Imagine that the sun is out, you've finally managed to pack up your infant and all her necessities, and you are now on the way to the park for an invigorating walk with your baby. But by the time you reach the park, your baby has fallen asleep! If you unstrap her from her car seat, you'll wake her and risk a crying fit. But do you really want to sacrifice your walk and just sit in the hot parking lot so she can sleep? If you have the Safety 1st Travel System, you'll never have to make that choice. This unique and convenient system is designed so that you don't have to disturb your baby or give up that sunny afternoon walk -- or grocery shopping, for that matter. The Safety 1st Travel System includes a sturdy stroller and a rear-facing infant car seat that doubles as an infant carrier, which easily and quietly pops out of your car and into the stroller, without disturbing your baby.

View larger. | A Safe, Convenient and Economical Choice It seems like babies outgrow their clothes and toys in the blink of an eye. But with the Travel System, even when your baby eventually outgrows the infant seat -- which she can use from the day of her birth until her first birthday -- she can still use the stroller into her third year -- making this system a versatile, economical choice. For new parents seeking the ultimate in safety and convenience, the Safety 1st Travel System is ideal for easy and secure transportation of your infant. You can go more places, more easily, with your new baby -- and you will feel safer carrying your smaller, vulnerable infant in the padded, protected seat. Simply install the included car seat base in your car. It is designed to work with either seat belts or the LATCH system that is available in newer vehicles. The infant seat snaps easily in and out of the base so it can be transferred to the stroller, and with its adjustable handlebar, it is designed to be carried easily on your arm. The infant seat features lightweight, sturdy plastic construction, easy-to-clean fabric, and an adjustable sun shade that's useful both in the stroller and in the car. The Stroller: Lightweight, Sturdy, and Fun The stroller, with its lightweight aluminum and plastic frame, and large front wheels, is easy to maneuver, even on rougher surfaces. It folds up easily -- in one step and with one hand! -- into a convenient freestanding position, and is light enough to carry with one hand -- an essential feature for any parent who usually has the other arm occupied by a child. The parent tray provides room for a cup of coffee for both you and your partner, and includes a handy area to hold anything from your keys to a blueberry muffin. During the early months, before your child can sit independently, you'll want to use the stroller with the infant seat. But as your child gets older, she will be able to sit in the stroller, facing forward, without the infant seat. And the footrest and seatback can be easily adjusted to accommodate your child as she grows. The Ultimate Test Drive The versatility of this infant seat gets an "A+" from us. It is so much easier to put a young infant, who cannot yet hold up her head, into the infant seat first, and then snap it into the car -- rather than trying to safely maneuver her into a permanently-installed car seat. And we found that the infant seat will also fit nicely into many shopping carts at the grocery store. The stroller, which required minimal assembly, was also easy to use. We loved its lightweight design, and also the fact that the seatback can be adjusted to a horizontal position, allowing your older baby to sleep more comfortably. While we discovered this stroller to be best used on paved surfaces, we found that the larger front wheels made it easier to navigate gravel or grassy paths than other comparable models. One minor drawback was that using the stroller with the infant seat requires an "adapter bar," which is included, to be inserted across the front of the stroller. This add an extra step to the process and means that the stroller cannot be used in the face-forward style. (Once the baby is old enough to sit in the stroller without the infant seat, you don't need the adapter bar.) The stroller does, however, include a storage pocket for the adapter bar to minimize the possibility of misplacing or losing it. Also, while the stroller's handlebar features comfortable, soft grips, it is placed in a rather high position and is not adjustable. Pros: - Safe, sturdy infant seat conveniently doubles as a car seat and infant carrier
- Makes it easier to do errands with baby
- Lightweight stroller is easy to maneuver, transport, and store
- Can be used by your child into her third year
Cons: - Stroller's high handlebar position may be uncomfortable for some users
- Stroller "adapter bar" is inconvenient and difficult to use
