I feel like I really tried. Our friends swear by Recaro and have used the Como for both of their children, so when we found the Como on sale for more than half its list price, we bought it sight unseen thinking it was going to be the be-all-end-all of convertible car seats. I don't know if it's the make/model of our car (2003 Ford Taurus) that is making this car seat impossible to work with, but I'm ready to light it on fire. It sits so high in the back seat (rear-facing) that maneuvering my wiggly 8-month old son into it is a fight every time. The side-impact protection wings mean that I have to turn him sideways and practically scrape his face on the ceiling of our car to get him in and out of it...which he is obviously not pleased with. Additionally, the size of this thing is monolithic, and has almost totally occluded my vision out of the car's rear window when placed in the center (as recommended by the CHP)...this,...Read more 2 of 2 people found the following review helpful: By Tamika Clawson (Texas, USA) - See all my reviews Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?) This review is from: Recaro Como G2 Child Safety Convertible Car Seat, Raspberry (Baby Product) Love this carseat sturdy and feels like luxury to me. I love the ease of the installation and compatibility with most cars. I have a BMW X3 and they both fit with enough room for an adult/teen child in the back. My 7 yr can sit in his sister's "Como G2)of course he is too tall but the has the Recaro Pro Sport(Midnight)a 5 point harness up to 80lbs and 59" which will then convert to a high back booster up to 120lbs. I Love Recaro!!!! 1 of 1 people found the following review helpful: By This review is from: Recaro Como G2 Child Safety Convertible Car Seat, Raspberry (Baby Product) We have been using this seat for about 6 months. Altogether, I really like it and would encourage any family to get one for their little one.
Here is my list of pros and cons: Pros: 1. We use the latch system, and this seat gets so tight! I love how secure it feels!! When I hook it into the car, I actually climb up and put my knee into the seat, lean on it with all my weight and pull tight. After that, I can't even slide it when I push with all my muscle :) 2. The side impact protection allows for my daughter to really be sitting down in this seat, rather than just "on" it. This was the reason I went with the Recaro over the Britax. If we got into a side impact collison, I know she would be protected. 3. There is a button in the front that makes the straps easy to losen and tighten while getting in and out, so I can make sure it is the correct fit, but she doesn't have to bend her arm backwards to get out! 4. All of the extra padding...Read more |
