Summary: We are so happy with this seat! 2007-10-12
Comment: My son didn't outgrow his infant seat until after his first birthday, so I wasn't looking for a "convertable" carseat. I chose the SafeSeat Step 2 because of it's ability to recline so easily, and it is truly that easy, you can reach back and pull it with one hand and no effort. It is a very large seat, which is great for us because we have a minivan (no space constraints) and my son loves to be up on the same level as his big sister. He was to the point in his infant seat of crying every time we went anywhere because he didn't want to stare at the back of the seat, he's happy now facing forward and looking out the windows. Even when not in the recline position, this seat has enough of a recline that he doesn't flop forward when he falls asleep. He's been using this seat for 6 months now and even though he is a little guy (only 20 lbs when we first got it), it feels very safe and secure. The straps have never twisted and the buckles are simple to snap and open. I haven't had to wash the pads yet, I've only needed to vaccuum the seat out, and I haven't had any problems (I read a review when I was considering this seat about food getting stuck under the seat pad and stinking, but my son eats in there eveyday and we haven't had any problem like that). I truly love this seat. Of all the baby items I've chose, and there is so much to choose from, this is probably my best, most satisfying decison.

Summary: Do NOT let your child eat in this one! 2007-06-13
Comment: I bought this carseat nearly a year ago when my daughter had just turned one. I wanted a reclining carseat, and there weren't many options. This one seemed to fit my needs well. And as far as the reclining goes, it's wonderful! My daughter often falls asleep in it, and I can lay her back or sit her up with ease. But I have two major problems with this one: One, it's really big and bulky, and if you are going to be taking it in and out of the car a lot (like I do), get another one. It's gigantic! Two, I let my child eat in her carseat, and this is the absolute WORST seat for food to get caught in that I have ever, ever seen! I know some people don't let their kids eat in the car, and if you don't, then this won't be a problem at all. But I do, it keeps her happy, and also she is underweight and needs to eat constantly (by doctor's orders, pretty much!). So she eats... and the food falls down the seat and gets trapped in the millions and millions of tiny crevices under the seat cover. I just spend a solid 30 minutes with a roll of paper towels, spray cleaner and a SCREW... yes a screw, trying to get all the gunk out from all those tiny areas. I got about 90% of it out, but it actually is starting to smell bad. And I don't feed her yogurt in it or anything, I'm talking cheerios, potato chips, raisins, etc. Along the inside edges of the seat, there is velcro for 8-10 inches or so, which makes removing the seat cover a snap (no need to undo the straps), but it allows ALL the food to fall down underneath. Bad, bad, bad!
Now, again, if you are not going to let your child eat in the car, and if you do not need to move this seat in and out of your car, then it's fine. It's actually a really good seat, but if you are like me, you'll regret your purchase badly!

Comment: I love this carseat, I have been through many carseats with my first child so with my second child I did alot of research, this carseat is the best and I wish I would have had one with my first child. The only thing bad about this carseat is that it is big and bulky but that is the only thing I have found wrong. This carseat reclines so easy and with other carseats I always had to loosen the latch strap so that it would recline and you could not do that driving down the road, with the Graco all I have to do is reach back and pull and it reclines so easy. My son loves the fact that it sits up high. Great Carseat.

ONLY DRAWBACK IS THAT IT IS KINDA BIG AND BULKY, BUT THAT MAKES IT HIGH AND COZY FOR BABY OR TODDLER.
I bought this car seat 3 month ago. I have a 10 month old. I looked around for a month or so,read reviews, went to alot of websites and stores and I was very happy to find and buy this car seat. I love the easy buckle feature. The only draw back to it though is that you have to have it reclined to get the buckle through best. But, the recline is sooo easy so that is really no big deal. I love that I can recline it with one hand, even when I am driving. (When it's forward facing) It is easy to feel it so you don't really have to look or turn around. And it is pretty smooth and it never wakes my baby up. The bottom of the car seat stays flat and the actual seat is what slides forward to put it in a lay back position. She likes the car seat a lot. One great feature it that it sits up really high so she can see out and around really well. The fabric is great cus it is kind of wipe able. It also comes out really easy to wash, but I have not had to do that yet. I thought it would get real hot since it is black, but so far I haven't noticed that yet. We really haven't had many hot days yet though. The buckle seems to work great. It doesn't tangle at all and wipes of well. Also the seat is soft and padded with nice big sides to support sleeping heads. The only drawback to me is that it is really big. I have a Minivan and it seem to fit fine, but it would be pretty cramped in a small car. Check out [...] to see a full animated display for this seat. It shows the features really well. Comment: this is our first purchase of a car seat for my son. hes only 10 months old at 24 pounds and he loves it. he grew out of the infant car seat and my husband and thought it wasnt safe anymore so we bought this graco carseat.
we had no idea how wonderful it is. our son sleeps safely in it and it has one hand adjustable harnest seat belts and one hand reclining. its lovely..
