Summary: Perfect for "banana" babies 2008-04-30
Comment: Because of height limitations, our first baby grew out of his SnugRide seat by 4 months old. We assumed our second baby would be similar in stature and bought this seat. He is now four months old and would have already grown out of the "regular" infant seat but, luckily, will be in this seat for another few months. It is REALLY heavy with our skinny 13 pounder but we don't carry it for long distances. It goes from the house to the car or the car to a stroller. He is very comfortable in it and it is easy to get him in and out. It fits in our Prius but the front seat has to be moved forward a bit which isn't comfortable for the grandparents but I'm usually sitting there and it doesn't bother me.

Summary: Not as heavy as people say... 2008-04-06
Comment: We just purchased this seat for our second child- in large part because my first grew out of the snugride at 5 months before he could even sit in the cart at the grocery store. I just couldn't imagine chasing a 2 1/2 year old while trying to hold an infant in the middle of the winter. Many, many people say that this carseat weighs 15 pounds... That is actually incorrect. The carseat WITH the base weighs 15 pounds- but, who carries around the base?!? The carseat alone weighs 9.75 pounds- about 2 1/2 pounds more than the snugride... and for 7-8 months more of use it was definitely worth it!

Summary: Love this car seat 2007-08-10
Comment: I researched for the right car seat for almost the whole time I knew I was pregnant and I knew I wanted a bigger one to hold my baby longer. This seat was all that I wanted and the price was very reasonable. My baby was 7 pounds 9 ounces when she was born and this seat protected her nicely. She is now four months and 26 inches long and would be almost to big for the regular seat. I have a Buick LeSabre so my back seat is roomy, but we also have a Jeep and her seat fits nicely in the middle with the base installed. I would definately buy another seat like this for our next baby and recommend this seat for anyone looking. I also choose this pattern because it could go for either a boy or a girl. This seat is heavier and larger than most seats but it is well worth the money!

Summary: Wonderful Infant Seat 2007-07-28
Comment: We specifically bought this carseat for the higher weight limit and extra padding. It's true that it is bigger than many infant seat and heavier, but it is well worth the trade. I had the seat installed by a safety technition and the officer was very impressed with the seat. It was a little hard to install at first, but it fit so snuggly that it didn't budge at all. Now that I know how to install it, it's not hard. I just have to use my body weight to push down on the base while I secure it (we don't have tether for a rear facing seat).

If we had not chosen this seat, we would have had to buy another carseat by the time our daughter was 6 months because she was already 22lbs! We love it.

Summary: A great car seat overall - lots to consider though 2007-06-24
Comment: Before my baby was born, I decided I wanted to try this car seat out mainly because of the extended weight limit (30 lbs). I also wanted one that wasn't a part of those bulky baby stroller systems but could be snapped into a stroller frame so I wouldn't have to wake her up (and it has lived up to this expectation). The padding that comes with the seat wasn't secure enough for her tiny head, but I fixed that by buying the Eddie Bauer head support Eddie Bauer® 2-in-1 Head Support - Gray/ Pink. I have not regretted buying this seat and love the fact that my one year old is happy in it and very comfortable. We were even in a small car accident (at a slow speed) and my baby was absolutely fine to my relief.

Something to consider before buying is the size of this seat. Some moms prefer compact, lightweight carriers when on the go. This seat is pretty hefty in weight at 15 lbs. I bought this knowing that because I preferred having a higher weight limit for later on. Once she became a few months old, it did start to feel really heavy. But even now, as she is a year old and 18 lbs, I've taken the carrier out with her still sleeping for short trips. It's really worth the trouble in my opinion. And the stroller frame is helpful too if it's just too heavy to carry.

This seat has been used in an Oldsmobile Aurora, GMC Sierra truck, and a Mercury Villager GS Van. In the truck it was in the center of the back seat and fit fine there. With the Aurora and the van, it fit a bit tight behind the driver's seat. Both cases, the car seat carrier handle needed to be positioned higher for the driver's seat to go back as much as possible. The space might be tight for someone that is very large or really tall.

So while this has curbed the need for buying another car seat for awhile, I still had to buy a stroller. My baby girl is just too curious and excited about her surroundings that a rear-facing, reclined carseat stroller wasn't interesting enough at 7 months. If she was sleeping, it's great and soothing, but once awake, she wanted to sit up. Sooner or later, we were going to need a stroller so it didn't really bother us to have to buy one.

So lots to consider before buying, but I really like this car seat and feel it's worth buying despite the cons! Few other things I didn't go into detail but I mentioned below in my overall pros and cons:

PROS:
- 30 lb. weight limit
- easy to install
- snaps easily in the stroller frame Graco Snugrider Infant CarSeat Stroller Frame
- Nice pattern/neutral color (bought the Legacy)
- Comfortable (according to my baby)
- Strap easy to adjust for different clothing weights
- Easily snaps in base, easy to remove (unless too close to seat)
- Can be used without the base, worked great in times of emergency when base was not availabe. Not as secure but helpful for those rare occasions.

CONS:
- Does not fit on the top of a shopping cart. I either put the seat in the shopping cart itself for small shopping trips or snapped it in the stroller frame. Large shopping trips were mostly done when I was with the hubbie until she was big enough to sit up.
- Pretty heavy in weight
- Tight behind driver's or passenger seat (which sometimes makes it difficult to pull the lever to release seat from base)
- Canopy is large but doesn't shade completely. My girl's feet were always exposed to the sun which had to be covered with a blanket.
