Amazon.com Product Reviews

The Evenflo Triumph LX convertible car seat is transforms from an infant car seat into a forward-facing toddler seat. The luxurious, plush, ultra-padded restraint system has all the components of a top-of-the-line convertible car seat from a brand committed to quality and safety. Evenflo's FitRight system employs removable body pillows for comfort at every stage of growth, a three-position harness (HeightRight), tensioner knobs for proper fit (TensionRight), and "visual confirmation" that the buckle is secure (BuckleRight). This is elaborate verbiage that basically tells you that the Triumph car seat has all the features you need. In rear-facing mode, there are multiple reclining positions for infants five to 30 pounds. The five-point harness and two-piece chest clips keeps baby snug and secure. The seat is easily adjustable and LATCH (Lower Anchors and Tethers for Children) equipped. When the child reaches 20 pounds and the state-mandated age requirement, convert into a forward-facing toddler seat. The five-point harness keeps the child strapped in and safe. The maximum height for the toddler seat is 40 inches and the maximum weight is 40 pounds. The Triumph LX has a removable, washable pad and a retractable cup holder. The monochromatic Onyx is also a stylish, gender-neutral option for parents tired of greens and beiges. The manufacturer recommended age is birth and up, 19 to 40 inches, and 5 to 40 pounds. --Scott Teal

Summary: evenflo triumph lx convertible car seat 2008-05-04
Comment: After using this car seat for over a year, and having our first need to wash the cover, here's what I think...
All in all this is a great car seat. I love how comfortable my child is in it, and haven't had any issues that I wouldn't associate with any product that gets as much use. I have moved the car seat repeatidly, and never had much issue in that area. The fact that you need to remove screws to remove the cover really isn't that big a deal, especially when considering how well ancored the harness is. The washing of the cover was easy, and blessed with a fantastic dryer with sensors and delicate settings, it went well. I did use the dryer for the alotted time on the tag, (10-15 minutes, opting for the 15) and then, seeing it was still a bit on the wet side, dried it again using the same setting and it was 90%+ dry. I reassembled it, and it was no problem. I, like most, like the convience of products that are easy and quick. In the scheme of things, this product fits the bill.

Summary: spend the extra money for a Britax 2008-01-17
Comment: I purchased the Evenflo Triumph for my 1st child 3yrs ago. We hardly used this car seat because it was used in my husband's pickup. It was only used for picking up and taking my son to the babysitter 2 blocks away. We now have a 2nd child and new vehicles so I decided to use it more because it looks brand new compared to our other car seats (which are Britax). I've been using it for 3mos and yesterday I was snapping the chest buckle together and a piece of plastic broke off. I called Evenflo to get a replacement buckle and they said there is no way of replacing it because the straps CAN NOT be removed from seat. So now I have what looks like a brand new car seat that is trash. We have 2 other car seats that are Britax that have withstood the test of time. I was only using the Evenflo because the covers on the Britax car seats look worn and faded. My advice, spend the money on a Britax!!!

Summary: Remedial strap user 2007-09-12
Comment: I like this seat and it is plush and comfortable, but it takes me awhile to adjust the straps properly. It's not as intuitive as our Britax Marathon.

Summary: Big, BUT VERY SAFE 2007-09-02
Comment: It takes up a lot of space and is heavy, but is very safe. I love the seatbelt release. It is easy to use once you read the instructions. Adjusting the straps from one level to another is a BREEZE with this seat!

Summary: Not Super Impressed 2007-08-15
Comment: I spent a good deal of time researching the best car seats (safety and monetary reasons). We decided on the Triumph DLX. Yes I know (now) that this is the LX model but it was mislabeled when I purchased it. Doesn't matter my husband has the DLX model. No real difference other than a couple of extra head pillows.

My daughter outgrew her Snugride and we switched her to this one at 7 1/2 months. She is now 8 1/2 months. The first week in it I absolutely hated the seat. There are only three seatbelt slots and two are for rear-facing. My daughter is tall but it comes from her legs. So when the fire dept. installed the seat they put the belt on the bottom slot since her shoulders didn't quite reach the middle slot. There is a tightening lever on the seat. After putting her in the seat and attempting to secure her I felt like I was pushing extremely hard on her shoulders and crushing her. Needless to say this did not make her happy, upset rather. After 1 1/2 weeks of this I couldn't take it anymore I felt horrible having to take her places because of the seat. So I adjusted the seatbelt to the middle slot. It is slightly above her shoulders but I think it is a better situation for the two of us.

I also do not like that there are two straps for the shoulders. They do get twisted and when you are in a hurry you sometimes forget to put both over her shoulders and then you start over again. She is extremely squirmy so it is difficult to get her in the seat period.

When you take the child out of the seat there is a release lever. I find it difficult to push down and unlock the seatbelt. My husband feels the same way.

Now that I have had this for a month we are getting used to the seat. If I could do this over I think I would have gone for the Graco ComfortSport seat.

Positives: It is nice to tighen the seatbelt with a lever and release it in the same fashion. The seat is cushy and my daughter enjoys being able to look out the window now (This seat sits up higher than the Snugride). There is a tag on the seat that she loves to pull at too. The seat pad is nice. She recently had a soggy diaper that spilled over and it was easy to pull out the pad and wash it. It is also a nice looking car seat.

I am not sure that I would recommend this seat. There are some nice qualities about it but definitely room for improvement.
