Evenflo has been a trusted name in baby products for decades. Their dedication to both baby's safety and convenience for parents is evident in this Triumph DLX car seat, which has features like convertibility, a five-point harness, easy one-time installation, and LATCH compatibility. Meeting or exceeding all U.S. Federal Safety Standards, parents will have peace of mind from day one, as this seat functions as a rear-facing infant car seat for babies weighing 5 to 30 pounds. Baby will appreciate that the car seat grows with them, keeping them comfortable in a forward-facing position from 20 to 40 pounds. | | The Triumph's 5-point harness features adjustable height positions and visual verification the buckle is secure. Colors vary. | | | The base features multiple position recline and SeatGuard to protect your car's upholstery. Colors vary. | Evenflo's car seat also provides a plethora of features to ensure that everything is "right" before driving away. HeightRight adjustment on the five-point harness provides three different height positions that can accommodate baby as they grow. TensionRight knobs offer proper tightening of the harness, while BuckleRight gives parents visual verification that the buckle is securely fastened. The ReclineRight base offers multiple recline positions for baby's comfort. Even better is that all of these adjustments can be made from the front or side of the car seat without having to remove it from the vehicle. Safety is front of mind with the folks at Evenflo, and they made sure the Triumph DLX met the tough criteria of parents. The LATCH system is meant to work with your vehicle's seatbelts and provides simple, secure installation. (Should you need extra help on how to install your Triumph car seat, Evenflo provides videos on their website that give detailed step by step instructions.) An EPS foam liner absorbs energy in case of impact, while the Comfort Touch pad system ensures baby's comfort no matter how long the ride. The FitRight infant body pillow, hip roll, and head support keep baby snug, but can be removed for cleaning -- or once baby has grown into toddlerhood. The harness covers and toddler head pillow are also removable and washable. When the car seat is switched to be forward-facing, the 2-buckle strap position comes in quite handy, as it's meant to grow with the seat's occupant. There is also a convenient cup holder that gives them easy access to their drink while traveling. When not in use, it folds out of the way so as to not "collect" things. While the Evenflo Triumph DLX may not have as many frills as other convertible car seats, it gets high marks for safety and makes a great choice for parents needing a more economical option.

Summary: Go to another car seat 2007-11-24
Comment: This car seat makes it nearly impossible for you to strap the child in properly. It uses a double strap apparatis that the childs hands get stuck in. It is extrememly difficult to adjust and it takes up so much room in the car.

Summary: Nice & Cushy 2007-11-10
Comment: We are very pleased with this carseat. The only thing that bothers me is that rearward facing, it doesn't recline far enough. We put it in both my husband's truck, and my Ford Explorer, and in both vehicles it doesn't recline far enough. It is fine when my son is awake, but when he falls asleep, his head slumps forward. There is a backward slant to our seats, so it would probably be fine with a flatter seat.

Summary: Beware the knob & lever system 2007-10-25
Comment: While this is certainly a cushy seat, the knob & lever system on the lower sides of the seat used to tighten and loosen the shoulder straps were frustrating to use, and finally broke after only 5 months of use (conveniently for Evenflo, they only warrant the seat for 90 days). The lever would frequently stick, preventing the straps from being loosened (which could be tragic in a true emergency), and finally, it stopped working altogether, enabling the knob to be turned while neither properly tightening or loosening the shoulder straps. Seats that have the lever system on the lower front/middle are much easier to use, and have less problems. The Graco Comfortsport & Safe Step seats have this sytem, and work just fine.

Summary: A good carseat, but... 2007-10-11
Comment: Pros:
-cushioning and fabric is very soft and comfy, almost like sitting on a couch
-easy to install and adjust straps
Cons:
-this carseat is HUGE! Being that have a 2 door Ford Focus, this takes up about half of my backseat. And it does not fit in my husband's pick-up truck because the carseat is so big it blocks the entire passenger window, especially in the rear-facing position
-its very very heavy! But I guess that is only really an issue of you need to transfer it to another car on a regular basis
-this is definitely not a good rear-facing seat if you have a 2-door car. The way the sides curve around makes it very difficult to get a rear-facing baby in and out of the seat.

Summary: Very good car seat. Accesories aren't neccesary 2007-10-07
Comment: This car seat seems identical to the Triumph 5 to me, except it comes with some accessory cushions. The manual even seems the same - simply titles "Triumph". The Triumph 5 is one of the top rated seats by Consumers Reports.
These extra cushions are the "head pillow", "body pillow", "hip roll", and "head support". Unfortunately, the manual says the later three - "body pillow", "hip roll", and "head support" should only be used when the seat is used in the rear facing position only, which is for younger/smaller children. We don't use this car seat in the rear facing position, so these extra things are wasted on us. My daughter did not like the head pillow, so it was a total wash.
I still like the seat overall but suggest you look for the slightly cheaper Triumph 5 version if you intend to use it the front facing position only. When my daughter was younger (i.e. would have used the rear facing position) we found it much easier to have a car seat with detacheable carrier and a base that stayed in the car - it is much easier to get a little baby in and out of the car like that.
It is true that it doesn't recline a lot, but my daughter loves the seat and manages to fall asleep with no trouble.
