Amazon.com Product Description

Evenflo has been a trusted name in baby products for decades. Their dedication to both baby's safety and convenience for parents is evident in this Triumph 5 car seat, which has features like convertibility, a five-point harness, easy one-time installation, and LATCH compatibility. Meeting or exceeding all U.S. Federal Safety Standards, parents will have peace of mind from day one, as this seat functions as a rear-facing infant car seat for babies weighing 5 to 30 pounds. Baby will appreciate that the car seat grows with them, keeping them comfortable in a forward-facing position from 20 to 40 pounds.

Triumph car seat harness
The Triumph's 5-point harness features adjustable height positions and visual verification the buckle is secure. Colors vary.
Triumph car seat base
The base features multiple position recline and SeatGuard to protect your car's upholstery. Colors vary.
Evenflo's car seat also provides a plethora of features to ensure that everything is "right" before driving away. HeightRight adjustment on the five-point harness provides three different height positions that can accommodate baby as they grow. TensionRight knobs offer proper tightening of the harness, while BuckleRight gives parents visual verification that the buckle is securely fastened. The ReclineRight base offers multiple recline positions for baby's comfort. Even better is that all of these adjustments can be made from the front or side of the car seat without having to remove it from the vehicle.

Located to work with your vehicle's seatbelts, factory-installed anchor points provide a secure and easy LATCH connection, plus the SeatGuard base protects your car's upholstery. (Should you need extra help on how to install your Triumph car seat, Evenflo provides videos on their website that give detailed step by step instructions.) A flap on the car seat allows quick access to seatbelts for easy adjustments and safety checks. The Comfort Touch pad system gives you (and baby) flexibility: the head, hip and thigh, and side-to-side cushions can be removed as needed, whether to be cleaned or to give baby more room as they grow. And while the car seat can be moved between vehicles, at 23 pounds when empty and with having to reinstall it every time, you may want to consider buying two if you have multiple high-use cars. In short, the Evenflo Triumph may not have as many frills as other convertible car seats, but it gets high marks for safety and makes a great choice for parents needing a more economical option.

Summary: good chair 2008-08-07
Comment: We've been using this carseat for the last year, it works great. Easy to install in the car, easy to buckle the child in. A little complicated to adjust the straps to a higher level but not too bad. We have two of these. The quick adjustment lever is very easy to use and helpful for changing the strap length for thicker or thinner clothing the child might be wearing. The seat also washes very nicely with a damp cloth or baby wipes. My grandchild is currently 20 months old, about 26 pounds and she still fits in it fine.

Summary: Wonderful carseat! 2007-12-11
Comment: I bought this carseat for my first son when he was seven months old and used it until he was ready for a booster. My second son has used it from seven months old, too.
It has been such a great car seat! It is so easy to adjust the straps to fit, the reclining feature works great, and it seems to be really comfortable for them. Once you figure out how to take the seat cover off the first time to wash, it's not a problem. It is quite heavy which is my only complaint. Overall, it's a wonderful carseat and I would recommend it to anyone!

Summary: Easy to use, but big 2007-11-21
Comment: We have found this car seat to be easy to install and to use--we particularly like the mechanism for tightening the straps. However, it is a very large seat. This seems to make it quite comfortable for our daughter, but it takes up a lot of space in our backseat and can make it a bit tight for fitting somebody in the middle of the back seat.

Summary: Great quality, easier than expected to install! 2007-06-13
Comment: I don't often put reviews of products up, but I felt this was a very important product to review. After all, the reviews I read were extremely important in helping me select this seat and I felt the longer reviews were most often the most helpful. So here you go:

Our seven month old has already reached 21 pounds, and the weight limit for the carrier we have is 22 pounds. Having been unhappy with the convertible seat I had for my firstborn while it was in the rear-facing position, I wanted to get a top-rated seat for increased safety. I found out that three seats rated the best by a fair margin. The Triumph 5 tied for "top place" and was about $100 less in cost than the other one with equal points. It's about $40 less than the one which rated only one point less. Then I began to read more about other peoples' experiences with those 3 seats.

After reading reviews of other Triumph 5 car seats I was a little concerned that this seat would be difficult to adjust and install. However, what I read about the other seats made me feel this one would be *slightly* easier.

When the seat arrived I carved out some time to read the manual then work on adjusting and installing the seat. I was expecting a steep learning curve.

My first goal was to figure out how to adjust the seat angle and seat belt for my fast-growing child. Sitting on the floor with the seat I first put it into the rear-facing position. The lever you pull to accomplish this was somewhat difficult for my weak hands to get, but certainly not impossible. Once you get the lever pulled out, the seat slides along the tracks smoothly and easily.

I then pulled the seat harness to a loosened state and placed my baby into the seat. The levers and knobs for tightening and loosening take a bit of getting used to, but I don't think I've ever seen such an ingenious method for accomplishing the task. Evenflo put two harness knobs/levers on the seat, one on each side, so no matter which side you are approaching the seat from it is easy to access the mechanism in the rear-facing position. (I'd had a problem with the seat I had for my now five-year-old because it was located below the child's feet on the front...*not* an easy-access position for a rear-facing seat!)

I'd like to note here that I did examine the method for sliding the shoulder harnesses up as the child gets taller. I pulled up the cushion with the easy-access opening, and feel that the adjustment will be no more difficult than any other adjustments mentioned. It only requires that you squeeze two levers toward each-other and then slide the mechanism upward. The instructions recommend using two hands, and I know for a fact that I'll need to follow that suggestion. (Again, I have weak hands.)

Here's my one disappointment and the reason I only gave the seat 4 stars: There is *not* a level indicator. There's no real way to tell for certain whether the seat is in a good position for the rear-facing position, not to mention how large the roll ought to be if one does need to use it. We had to use guesswork on this; having bucket seats in the back of the car, we decided to go with a large roll. It is approximately the same angle as our carrier was, so we're satisfied. We can always adjust it later if the baby's head seems to fall forward while sleeping.

As for securing the seat, we chose to go with the LATCH system. It's always somewhat difficult to get any seat tightened down well. The LATCH system is easier than a seatbelt. This seat was no more difficult than any other car seat we've ever owned; if anything it was a little easier. The trick we've found is to get in the car and put all your weight on one knee on the seat while pulling on the LATCH strap end. Four good tugs and the seat was in.

I have to say, this seat is the highest quality that we have ever owned. It just seems to be more solid and durable.

As for the comfort factor, this has plenty of padding in all the right places. It also has a wonderful sueded material that is easy to clean. The cover is simple to take off, as the seatbelt/harness does not need to be removed.

I would have given this four and a half stars if that were an option. I just couldn't see giving it five stars since it is missing that level indicator. Hopefully Evenflo will include that in future models.

Overall, I definitely recommend this seat. I hope this review helps someone out there to make their selection.
