Summary: Not bad, but not great 2007-09-03
Comment: This is over-all a decent seat, but I can honestly say I won't miss it. (We will be switching to a Britax Regent).
The only major problems I had with it are that the straps become twisted easily, children who are bigger than average (by height and/or weight) can outgrow it before they are ready for a booster seat, and it doesn't seem to be as comfortable as other car seats (my mom and my in-laws have different brands, and my son much prefers those seats to this one. Although I know what they are, I can't think of which brands they are at the moment).
As I am a supporter of keeping children in 5 point harnesses through the age of six years old, I would recommend a Britax Regent or a Radian80, as both can accommodate children up to 80 pounds in the forward facing position. Had I known before purchasing the Titan that there were seats for children up to 80 pounds, I would have purchased one of them instead. Because my son will be 40 pounds before he turns 6, we'll have to purchase a THIRD car seat. If we had purchased a Britax or Radian, it would truly have been the only one we would have needed after the infant carrier, which would have saved us money, despite the huge difference in price between this seat and Radian or Britax.
The Titan 5 is functional and safe, but there are much better options out there that are more comfortable and will save the buyer money in the long run.

Summary: Best choice! 2005-10-18
Comment: Got this for my son when he outgrew the baby carrier/carseat we were using until he could sit up. He has been until recently in the 100th percentile (95% now) for length, and has fit the whole time.
We turned it around this week on his 1 year birthday and he has all the room he will need for quite a while, we expect. It works great. It is a little difficult to adjust the straps when the seat is installed in the rear position, but now that it is forward it works like a charm. It is installed in the middle of our backseat in our Prius, and there is room for two more passangers back there (and we are not particularly small people). And so easy to clean! High safety rating from Consumer Reports and a reasonable price make this seat the best choice by far.

Summary: Great Seat 2005-06-23
Comment: I bought this seat a few months back based on the Consumer Report on Convertible Car Seats. I usually buy the top of the line and spend the money for it as well. However, this seat IS the top of the line and for once I am not spending alot of money for it. This seat has the latch system built in and it makes installation a night and day difference. I won't go back to the old way of belting it in if I can help it! Great Seat!!! Great Price!!! I am buying my sister one for her shower!

Summary: Even resists spills 2005-05-18
Comment: I have always loved this car seat, but it had stiff competition from my Britax in the other car. Last night, that changed. My son sometimes vomits in the car, and with the Britax, I have to take apart the seat, clean under the foam on the seat, clean the car, etc. Last night, he threw up in this one. I took it out of the car, took off the cover, hosed it off, and now it's as good as new. Added bonus -- the back foot is bowl-shaped and caught everything. Nothing got on the car. LOVE YOU TITAN!!!

Summary: Not a good car seat 2005-01-25
Comment: I purchased this car seat for my 6 month old daughter b/c she has out grown her infant car seat. I had read on consumer reports that this seat had performed well on tests and it was a reasonable price. We had a guy from a local hospital install the car seat (he has installed both of our infant seats too) and the first time we put my daughter in the seat was when the problems began. Once she was seated in it, the strap to tighten the harness could not be tightened. It would not budge! Meanwhile, while trying to get the straps to tighten my daughter is sitting in the seat in the frigid cold weather while we're trying to figure out how this thing works. I definitley would not recommend this to anyone looking to buy a convertible car seat even though it performed well on tests. We returned this and purchased the Cosco Regal Ride seat and that seems to be working out real well and the price is great!
