CYBEX Aton Infant Car Seat - Eclipse

The Cybex Aton infant car seat can be used from 4-32 lbs. or 30 inches. It offers deep side impact protection and includes a convenient stay-in car adjustable base. The Cybex Aton offers an industry first, super easy - super secure belt tensioning system - no fuss or struggling to install the Aton's stay in car base with either LATCH Connectors or vehicle seat belts. A luxurious infant insert, European styling, a sleek hidden canopy and a carrier weight of around 8 lbs. round out the Aton's benefits. The Aton can be combined with color coordinating CYBEX strollers creating some of the lightest Travel Systems available. It can also be used with Maxi Cosi adaptors on many other strollers. All steel "base to bucket" connection for a secure installation of the carrier to the base. Extra bases are available to be purchased separately. Comes with a set of Cybex Latch Guides for easy installation and less damage to vehicle seats. It is designed to the toughest European testing requirements and meets or exceeds all applicable U.S. safety standards

I bought this car seat to replace the chicco keyfit. Both carseats meet or exceed safety standards so i will not be reviewing safety.

I decided to replace the keyfit bc
1. Fabric in keyfit is thick and not breathable. My 2 mo old would sweat like crazy in the seat.
2. Keyfit was heavy and bulky. Carrying it around was cumbersome bc of the size It didnt fit my travel system stroller very well
3. Keyfit didnt quite fit in the back seat of my mini clubman. It was avery tight squeeze.
4. When i put my baby in the seat, she sits deep in the seat and often times, slumps, even with the infant insert. The way most car seats are desined, this seems to be a common problem

This review is based on my experience with both car seats. What i liked about the cybex:

1. Fabric is lightweight and more breathable. Granted my baby is still Hot when the weather is warm, she doesnt sweat as much.

We went with Cybex because it has been highly reviewed. Overall we are very happy. The fabric removes so it can be washed and it is easy to clip and tighten. We also like that the seat integrates nicely with the Cybex stroller. The seat base is easy to install and makes putting the seat in a breeze.

The only criticism is that it can be tricky to detach the car seat from the stroller since you have to push up to thumb latches on either side of the seat.
