Product Description
Belt positioning boosters are the biggest advancement in child safety in years. Automobile seat belts are designed for children above 57" tall. Safety advocates suggest that your child ride in a booster as long as possible. Most states have enacted legislation to keep children in boosters until ages 6 to 8 years. But what it takes to keep an older child content is not the same as a baby. This is an age when children are busy in activities and moms, dads, and grandparents are all involved in dropping off and picking up the children. Our Folding Booster Car Seat provides the answers for both you and your child. The patented folding feature takes moving the seat from car to car and storing on the trunk to a new level of convenience. It's not just for travel, it is a seat that fits your daily lifestyle. Deluxe padding will keep your child comfortable and content, even on the long trips. Rotating armrests make installation easier because the belt path is clear. The rotating armrests also improve the ease of use because children have an easier time crawling in and out by themselves. The back support stays fully enclosed as the height is adjusted. This means side support and protection in every position. The headrest has a full EPS foam (bicycle helmet foam) liner to absorb energy in an impact. The six-position height adjust will grow with your child, and is designed for children 3 to 10 years old, 30 to 100 lbs, and 38" to 57" tall. It feels very substantial compared to others but weighs less than 10 lbs! Wide seat really fits the larger, older children.

Summary: Poor seatbelt fit according to Insurance Institute for Highway Safety 2008-10-03
Comment: We bought a Compass B505 based on positive reviews and the fact that it folds for travel. When we started using it in my husband's car, the straps never seemed to fit as well as the Evenflo booster that we purchased for my car. Then I saw a report that the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety sponsored a study conducted by the University of Michigan that found several boosters, including Compass B505, had poor seat belt positioning and this could cause injury in a crash.
I called Learning Curve customer support and asked about it and was read a statement that said that Compass boosters have a 5-star crash test rating. When I asked where I could see such crash test ratings, I was told that there were no such results available to the public. Infact, NHTSA has never crash tested the B505 (it has tested the B510). So the statement was misleading. I'll be buying another booster!

Summary: Insurance Institute for Highway Safety says no! 2008-10-02
Comment: The Insurance Institute for Highway Safety published a report recently, in which the Compass B505 and Compass B510 booster seats are NOT recommended. I have the Gold Dust B505. I was researching other seats, because after installing the Compass B505 in my van, it just never seemed to fit properly, as far as the belt placement. While researching other brands, I stumbled across a recent report that lists the two Compass models as ones to avoid. Just Google "The Insurance Institute for Highway Safety booster seat report" to read the article for yourself. While the seats are nice and cushioned and look nice, I won't risk my child's safety.

Summary: A Throne For a King 2008-08-03
Comment: I got this seat for my grandson's first visit to Grandma's. He was right at the bottom height & weight limit and it worked great. He figured out that he could pop the seat belt and be free and he really felt like a king on his throne in this seat, especially with the two cup holders. We had to try hard to figure out how to get the seat belt to tuck around the side so it was across the chest properly. He traveled well in this seat. It was a great purchase.Compass Adjustable Folding Booster

Summary: Great, Easy to use, and looks good too! 2008-06-01
Comment: I have to admit I did choose this seat because of the color initially- I did check it out to make sure it was a safe one too of course...but it is better than just the great color( goes perfect with the interior of a 2008 Ford F150 Harley Davidson edition!) I also plan on buying the travel bag for this seat- pefect for airplane travel! It folds up easily and to a manageable size. My daughter loves the dual cupholders, and my husband loves that we didn't put a pink seat in his truck! ;-)

Summary: Excellent for tall boy for last 3 years 2008-03-29
Comment: We've owned the Compass booster car seat for 3+ years now, and it's still looking great despite daily use and abuse. I researched the safest carseats when changing my eldest son from a 5 point harness up to a booster. This Compass had the best safety rating. The seat fabric is easy to remove and wash. It has adjusted easily as my son has grown - he's now 53" tall (4'5") and 65lbs and its still good for him. We've done a a few long car trips (up to 1000 miles) and he's never complained about his seat. From practical point of view, the side cup holders slide back into the seat if you are tight on space, and the arm rests lift up for ease of entry. It folds in half neatly and is easy to transfer from car to car, and it's travelled safely as checked luggage on flights too. I will be buying another one once my 2nd child moves up from his Britax Marathon.
