Solid construction. Fittings, snaps, handles all secure and reliable and not worn at all after daily use. Easy to adjust the straps. My advice- most of the seats look similar. They are all plush and colorful. But compare the BASES. The best seat is of no value if the base it attaches to is light and flimsy and likely to fail in the stress of an accident. Go into any store and look at the various replacement bases for the different brands of carseats for sale. You will see right away that the Chicco base is FAR stronger and more substantial and well-built. It gives me confidence that the seat will not pull away from the car attachment in an accident (God forbid) I would recommend the Chicco KeyFit to a family member or friend without hesitation. 5 of 5 people found the following review helpful: Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?) This review is from: Chicco Keyfit 22 Pound Infant Car Seat And Base, Hazelwood (Baby Product) We ordered the Keyfit 22 car seat instead of the Keyfit 30 because it was the lightest option available by several pounds, and we hoped that would make it easier for us to carry. Our baby was 6 lbs. 3 oz. on arrival and carrying her in this car seat has been a breeze. The Keyfit 30 can only be used up to 30 inches in height anyways, and I expect our child will exceed that measurement prior to exceeding the 22 lbs.
I really liked the base installation process with the LATCH system. It was slick. Just attach the two seat belt buckle-like clips to the car's two connectors under the seat. Then pull on the strap while kneeling on the base to make sure it is tight. Finally use the built-in levels to make sure it is right. After about 10 minutes of yanking and wiggling, I definitely felt that it was installed correctly. We ordered a second base so that we have one in both of our cars and that has already come in handy. Well worth the investment to have the...Read more 4 of 4 people found the following review helpful: This review is from: Chicco Keyfit 22 Pound Infant Car Seat And Base, Hazelwood (Baby Product) We've been very pleased with this car seat. We opted for the keyfit 22 over the key fit 30. These seats, like all infant seats, aren't exactly light and then put a 30 pound baby in it... oooff! That's heavy and wouldn't be fun to carry to/from the car. With our son at 20lbs I'm confident we made the right decision. If you opt for the keyfit 30, once your child outgrows it, you'll still need a rear facing convertible seat so you'll only be putting off buying your next seat for a while.
The harness is easy to adjust and tighten with a pull of a single strap and the sternum strap is easy to open and close which is not the case for all seats. Installing the base is super simple with the LATCH system and can be swapped between cars in under a minute once you know the drill. The seat installs into the base with a solid "click" letting you know your little one is safe and sound and removing the seat is just as easy. You can even use the seat without the base using...Read more |
