Summary: not a great product for older kids 2009-06-22
Comment: I bought this for my 2 1/2 year old to use on a flight for Florida from New York. The harness was useful for about one minute until my son figured out how to open to one-button harness. Another locking mechanism needs to be used to prevent toddlers from being able to open it.

Summary: WAY over priced! 2009-06-20
Comment: This is a wonderful product. Built well and secure. Did not fit on AA seat perfectly but it fit well enough to do it's job. I used it for my two year old and she was comfortable. It is worth using but it is NOT worth $75! $50 would be pushing it but more exceptable. After all it a small amont of seatbeat material and a few clips. Like the description says it only takes up 6 inches of space. If you don't mind the price I highly recommend it.

Summary: Best alternative to lugging a carseat! 2009-06-19
Comment: This is the best product alternative to lugging a carseat through the airport! My daughter is 2, but she is extremely tall for her age, and we had no problem in the fit of this product and I can see her using it for a while. I have had to do a lot of travelling over the past year with my daughter, by myself, and this is extremely easy to add to the carry-on and easy to install. Those folks sitting in the seat behind hers were always kind when I asked them to assist me with their tray tables. She realized that with this seating system, she was "strapped in" like in her carseat and sat still in it. This is a great buy for those traveling a lot with their children.

Summary: Impossible to recover from plane if lost - looks too much like airline equipment 2009-05-27
Comment: I recently bought the CARES and was thrilled to try it out on a recent trip. After a long haul flight from the middle east to the US with a massive delay, I was tired and accidently left my CARES on the plane. After many, many, many phone calls and runaround (thanks for nothing NW!!), I was finally told that the cleaners had seen my harness left behind but thought it was a seatbelt extender and belonged to the plane. NW then told me that my plane went onto Europe where the harness would likely be thrown away as they would not have a clue what it was.
I called the manufacturing company and suggested they add an owners label where people could add their details in the event of loss and/or change the color to ensure that this items stands out as not being part of the aircraft equipment. Very expensive for just 1 use!

Summary: Great alternative to car seats 2009-04-22
Comment: We used CARES on our recent trip and they worked great. We have twin 2 1/2 yr olds. We had peace of mind knowing that they were safely restrained. I agree with other reviews, that a strap between the legs would make this product better, especially if you have a child who is very active. They were very EASY to install and overall I am happy with this product.
