I chose this model because it was narrow enough to allow the front seats in my car to slide all the way back, I'm 6'3, and the colors matched the interior of the car perfectly. We use the seat in compact sedan, 2007 Mercedes C230. As far the seat being too heavy, I have to disagree. Its definatly lighter than our other Graco carseat, and either way I don't think either one weighs over 5 pounds. If you have any kind of upper body strength this shouldn't be an issue. I carried my son(21 lbs)around the mall today for an hour and half, and I'm no muscle head by any means. I would definatley reccomend this car seat to anyone, especially if the overall width is a concern, and if you have a small car it will be. I was impressed with the base tie down straps too. They look like industrial grade ratchet tie downs, and there is one for each side, allowing you to tighten each...Read more 2 of 2 people found the following review helpful: By This review is from: Baby Trend Phantom Infant Car Seat - Black/ Gray (Baby Product) I was given this car seat at my baby shower from my Grandma. I love it!!!! It is easy to clip into base, and easy to detach. I have used it with a Graco stroller, and a snap n go, both work wonderfully. My son is almost 15 pounds, so I can see where some people say it is heavy. But truthfully, when my son came home at 8 pounds, the seat was light, its him that's getting heavy, not the seat. I love the color scheme, will work for a boy or girl. I like the triangle handle, I carry the seat in my elbow mostly, and find the triangle to disperse weight more evenly. I have a little difficulty getting my son into the seat, but that is because he would rather be held, and I have the same problem with my parents car seat. I do not blame the seat for that. I feel that this seat has a very sophisticated look for only $100.00. I looked at other car seats, even bought one and returned it to allow my grandma to buy this one. I believe it gives the expensive look without the price tag of a Peg. 1 of 1 people found the following review helpful: By This review is from: Baby Trend Phantom Infant Car Seat - Black/ Gray (Baby Product) We bought this for our son and he used it until he went over the weight limit. It worked great for us. We paid $80 at Target. I saw alot of bad reviews and do not know why. Maybe we never had a problem because we did not have the crying baby. I loved the handle and yes it is heavy, but teh same heavy as any other. Recommended buy. We are now using it for baby #2. So it is built to last even through spills, poop, etc. |
